Flor-Lay has seen many changes over the years, but one thing that has remained constant is our desire to help you style and transform your space with quality products.
OUR HISTORY
Flor-Lay Interiors was originally established under the name Flor-Lay Services, the company was founded by Freda and Menno Unger. Seeking a fresh start and new opportunities, the Ungers relocated their business and their family from Kamloops to Hinton in the year 1979. This bold move marked the beginning of a new chapter in the company's history. Just three years into their new journey, in 1982, the Ungers welcomed Nigel Knight to the team as a flooring installer, a decision that would forever shape the future of the business.
As the years progressed, Nigel Knight became an integral part of Flor-Lay Services, demonstrating not only his skills as a flooring installer but also his potential as a future leader of the company. In 1995, the time came for Freda and Menno Unger to retire and pass on the torch. Recognizing Knight's contributions and his vision for the business, they sold the company to him and Ingrid Passamare. With new ownership came a new name – Flor-Lay Interiors, symbolizing a new era and an expanded vision for the company.
Nigel Knight and Ingrid Passamare worked tirelessly to grow Flor-Lay Interiors, building on the strong foundation laid by the Ungers. Their efforts paid off as the company continued to thrive and evolve, becoming a well-known name in the industry. In 2018, the team welcomed a significant addition – Win Knight, Nigel’s wife, who brought with her a wealth of knowledge and experience, boasting 37 years in bookkeeping and business management.

Win’s arrival came at an opportune time, following Ingrid Passamare’s retirement, and her expertise further strengthened the company’s backbone in administrative and financial operations.
Throughout the years, Flor-Lay Interiors has seen its fair share of transitions, from its initial establishment and relocation to changes in leadership and expansions in vision. Each phase of its history has been marked by dedication, hard work, and a commitment to excellence, principles that continue to drive its success to this day.
OUR CONTINUING STORY
As of November 1st, 2022, Flor-Lay Interiors embarked on a new chapter in its storied history with the transition of ownership to Ryan and Celina Evans. This milestone marks yet another evolution in the company's journey, highlighting its legacy of growth and adaptation. Ryan Evans, who has been a steadfast presence at Flor-Lay Interiors for the past 21 years, brought his extensive experience and expertise as a flooring installer to the forefront of the business. His deep understanding of the company’s operations, commitment to quality, and vision for the future made him an ideal successor to carry on the Flor-Lay legacy.
Celina Evans, joined the team in 2018 and brought with her fresh perspectives and new ideas. Her involvement has been instrumental in integrating innovative strategies and enhancing customer service, further enriching the Flor-Lay Interiors experience for clients. Together, Ryan and Celina form a dynamic duo, blending years of hands-on experience with a modern approach to business and customer engagement.
